I did not order the liveCD at first, but was then given the link to download it and it works really nice and easy. Since the card has 8 BT878 chips, and each is capable of 30fps, the card can do 240fps when only 8 inputs are used, and no chip is shared (only 1 channel from each chip). If 2 channels are used from the same chip, the max frame rate I get is 5fps, which is more than enough for almost all video surveillance needs. So if all 16 inputs are used, the most it gives is 80fps (5fps each x 16 channels). The default setup that comes with the LiveCD has all 16 inputs configured.
The folks at bluecherry were very helpful and prompt with all my questions.
